Mangrove Forests

Mangrove is a general term for dozends of different trees and bushes who specialized on swampy, saline grounds in tropical and subtropical regions of the earth. They offer a vast habitat for a lot of fish and other species to live and breed in. However, mangrove forests are under attack. Industrialization and urbanization threaten the biotopes heavily. When they are removed, the coasts loose not only much of their biodiversity, but also protection from floods and tsunamis.
